What is an overnight experience for Day Campers and Adventure Campers?

An overnight experience gives Day Camp campers the opportunity to experience overnight camp close to home and in a familiar place. For decades we have have overnight programs and want to continue to give campers that experience, even if it looks different than it used to.

This program will be offered select weeks and is an additional cost for the session. It can be added to your cart during registration.

How does it work?

Overnight sessions consist of 2 overnights for registered campers weeks 3, 4, or 7. This program is for campers 8 years and older, or campers in the Red, Yellow, and Adventure Camp groups. Campers will be dropped off and picked up normally Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, campers should arrive with everything that they need for their overnights. Once they are signed in on Wednesday, they will stay signed in until Friday at pick-up time. Lodging and meals are all included in the additional cost. For more information, see the FAQ’s below!

Overnight FAQ’s

Where will campers sleep and what about supervision?

Campers will be staying in the cabins at Camp Warwick and will be assigned cabins based on age and gender. Each cabin will be assigned a counselor appropriate for each room. This counselor will be with that group for dinner, activities, and overnight. We will uphold correct ratios during these overnights, just as we do during Day Camp. Cabins have 10 bunk beds and a shared bathroom. They will either eat their meals in the East House or in the dining hall at Camp Warwick.

Is there additional paperwork?

The only additional paperwork that needs to be provided is a medication authorization form if campers take medication in the evening or morning. This needs to turned in at drop-off on Wednesday. Medications must be in their original packaging with labels and the authorization form must match the instructions on the packaging.

What if my camper takes medication?

If your camper takes medications in the evening or morning, you will need to submit a medication authorization form by Wednesday morning of that session. All medications must be in their original bottles with instruction labels intact and match the medication authorization form. The form and medication will be presented to the nurse who will ensure that everything is in order, keep the medication in her office, and administer it as instructed. The medication will be returned to you at the end of the week. The nurse is on property overnight and available when and if needed.

What will they eat?

Dinners generally include a protein, a vegetable, and a starch. These meals can vary from week to week but include things like chick, rice, and vegetables to ham, potatoes, and green beans. There is always salad at dinner and of course, dessert.

There is always a hot breakfast option from pancakes to waffles to egg sandwiches. We also have oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, and hard boiled eggs for campers to choose from.

What kind of activities will they do?

During pick-up time, overnight campers will be brought to their cabins for time to relax before dinner. After dinner they will participate in an evening activity. Traditionally we play games like capture the flag, counselor hunt, human clue, or sardines. These activities change every session and our staff and leadership bring their own ideas and activities to the program. They will also have a campfire with s’mores and campfire stories.

What do they need to bring?

When a camper registers for an overnight, they will receive a packing list with their confirmation email. Each cabin has bunk beds without linens. Anything that your camper needs will need to be brought with them including:

  • sheets
  • sleeping bag/blankets
  • pillows
  • towels
  • personal care items like shower supplies, tooth brush, and toothpaste
  • warm cloths for evening activities
  • flashlight
  • anything that they will need for Day Camp
Can my camper bring their phone?

Campers are allowed to bring their phones with them. We will follow the same guidelines for overnights that we do during the day at Day Camp or Adventure Camp. They will be asked to keep them in the cabin and not use them while we are participating in activities and eating meals.
